A MUST HAVE FOR BUILDING CONFIDENCE

Game changer

This is an amazing product. I have been playing baseball with my kids (10, 8, 5) and they have been progressing but struggling with catching. I bought softer baseballs, but they still hurt. I noticed that fear was really holding them back from developing necessary skills.

This has been a game changer for us. They quickly lost the fear using these balls and have been developing the necessary skills to be able to handle real balls. We've had a ton of fun and avoided a lot of tears. Plus they have wanted to play more as a result. Right weight so it feels like a baseball, comfortable, not too soft, and the right size. Has held up with a lot of use. Highly recommend.

The perfect ball to have a catch with your young player

I've never written a review, but I did a lot of searching for a ball I could feel safe throwing line drives at my T-ball aged son, one with the size and weight of a real ball. I've got a bit of a wild arm and don't really trust myself with even an Incrediball — they're still too hard on impact for a kid who missed half his catches.

THIS is the one. It throws just like a baseball but it can whack them in the nose and they'll shake it right off and throw it back. And it still sounds and feels like a baseball when it hits your glove. Don't worry about the price or keep looking. Just get this one. Not sure about asphalt or concrete though — the cover is a cloth/plush leather style.

A must-have for building confidence

If your child is having trouble catching, buy these now. These balls were a game-changer for my 6-year-old son. He was struggling to catch, and the hard 8U balls kept bouncing off his glove and hitting him, which was really discouraging.

I bought these, and after just a week and a half of playing catch in the backyard, his confidence is through the roof. He's no longer shying away from the ball and is learning the proper technique. These are the perfect tool for teaching the fundamentals without the fear of getting hurt.

Regulation size and weight, without the sting

I bought these training baseballs to play catch with my son. I was looking for a soft and safe baseball that would not hurt him or me if we missed a catch. They have a regulation size and weight that is similar to a real baseball, and a white and red color that is easy to see and track.

They are easy to throw and catch, and they have a realistic feel when catching. They also do not hurt our hands or gloves. The only downside is that they can be a bit slippery when wet, so I recommend wiping them dry after use. Overall I'm very happy with these and would recommend them to anyone who wants to play catch with their kids.

Teach them baseball without the fear factor

I watched a video of a retired MLB player teaching his son how to catch. His point was, and I agree, that kids are somewhat scared of being hit by a hard baseball, and this is the best option to help alleviate that fear. My wife recently told me of her desire to learn how to catch and throw a baseball, which was music to my ears.

Its weight and size are similar to a regulation ball, but with a soft padding on the outside. Don't get me wrong, it will hurt a bit if you're hit with this thing, but not serious enough to say "I don't want to do this anymore." I highly recommend this to parents to teach their kids baseball without the fear factor.

Better than foam — there's real weight behind it

This is my second time purchasing Swax. They are a perfect training tool for teaching kids to catch. We use it inside for both barehand catching and catching with the glove. These are better to use than foam balls because there is real weight behind it, encouraging the squeeze of the glove when catching.

Perfect training tool

I love Swax balls. Perfect for beginners or even throwing indoors. I recommend them all the time. Size and weight of a real baseball. Practice throwing and catching without the risk of injury.

He moved on to regular balls

These balls are great for young players. My son was afraid of the ball so we practiced with Swax balls to gain confidence that allowed him to move on to regular balls. We also enjoy using these to play catch in the house in the winter and on rainy days.

No fear of a black eye

Swax baseballs have been great. Same size and weight as a real baseball, but padded. They have the same feeling as a baseball when throwing and catching, but without the fear of a black eye when my son misses a catch. May order more to practice with.

No busted lips

Perfect for young players that are scared of the ball. It is the same size and look as an original ball. It gave us hours of fun playing catch outside for my kids. We even used them for our t-ball team for the first few practices. No busted lips!

Great for kids learning to catch

Great for teaching younger kids how to catch a baseball. Similar size and weight as a regular baseball, which is good for them to get used to. Softer and safer if they were to have it hit them. We use it for having a catch and throwing pop ups.

Batting practice in a small yard

Great for kids who are scared of getting hit. Makes batting in my small yard possible since the ball doesn't go very far.

Removed all fear after a couple sessions

My sons were afraid to really throw and catch baseballs with one another because they didn't want to get hit with the ball. These removed all fear after a couple sessions. My 5 and 8 year old can play catch with me and each other easily now because of these balls.

Only issue is they get really dirty and scraped up with a lot of use, and they're a little expensive for what they are. But all in all a good product. I will buy again if lost or broken.

I scoffed at the price — glad I gambled

I scoffed at the price, wondering how 2 baseballs could cost that much. I took a gamble and I'm happy I did. The soft ball has given my 7 year old the confidence to catch a baseball. It's weighted to feel like a hard core ball (might be a tad lighter), but in comparison to a tennis ball it's significantly better. I recommend it to anyone who's got a kid apprehensive about catching. Start with no glove and work your way up.

It won't travel far enough to break a window

This ball throws and feels like a real ball when hit by the bat. It just dies after it's hit so it doesn't travel far enough to break any windows. We pitch to our 9 year old in the front yard with these balls for practice and they've been amazing. My only complaint is how expensive they are compared to other baseballs. I would recommend them to anyone working on hitting with a young child, especially in smaller spaces.

Bare-handed practice revolutionized his catching

Great for playing catch. Being able to practice bare handed revolutionized my son's catching. Closer to a baseball's weight than a rubber or foam ball, but far less durable — it deforms a little just from landing on asphalt. I wouldn't use it for batting practice, and avoid dirt and mud because it stains easily.

Good for backyard practice

Love the Swax balls for practice in the backyard. Would have given it a 5 but one ball looked used and dirty in the creases. I don't care to return it because we are going to dirty it anyway, but I would have liked not to receive a dirty looking ball.
